Safety is of utmost importance for airports, which is why Airports in Honduras began in 2013 a process of training and implementation of Systems Safety Management (SMS) with a group devoted solely to pursue that work.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Annex 19 "Safety Management" is to assist States to manage safety risks in civil aviation. Another aspect is the ongoing audits to the rules of the International Civil Aviation Organization, the International Air Transport Association and the Transportation Security Administration to certify the safety levels in the four international airports it administers Interairports. The October 15, 2013 the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) of Honduras meets acceptance Systems Manual Safety Management (MSMS) Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport.

The team of System Safety Management (SMS) Airports in Honduras working on continuous improvement of the welfare system for civil aviation in the country. This is part of the fulfillment of the MSMS to aerodrome certification as required by the regulation of civil aviation in Honduras.

SMS members of the four airports administered by Airports in Honduras team are trained repeatedly in issues of importance to civil aviation in the country with the intention of improving and strengthening the SMS is working in each of the airports.
