Inauguration of the first flight of Air Europa coming from Madrid

San Pedro Sula., April 27. Government officials, Executives of Air Europa, Diplomatic members, representatives of COHEP, Executives of Aeropuertos de Honduras and representatives of the chambers of the tourism sector, inaugurated today the arrival of the first direct flight from Madrid, Spain to the Ramón Villeda Morales  Airport of this city.

The first flight arrived from Madrid at 6:00 a.m. local time with 154 passengers while departing time i scheduled for 10:30 a.m. from San Pedro Sula with 268 passengers aboard towards the city of Madrid.

The Aircraft that landed at Ramón Villeda Morales Airport is an Airbus 330-200 aircraft with a capacity for 299 passengers.

The President of the Republic Juan Orlando Hernández, representatives of the Airline Air Europa and special guests proceeded to cut the ribbon to inaugurate the arrival of the first flight.

During the landing a   welcome to the aircraft with water and to the passengers were received with presentations of artists, tasting of dishes and typical sweets.

This new direct route offered by Air Europa is  very important  for the country due to the fact that  it will become the first direct air connection with Europe, which in turn will mean a bridge with some economic powers of the world. But the importance of this flight goes much further, it is also the key in the promotion of European tourism to Honduras.

The flight that will initially have a weekly regularity, arriving in San Pedro Sula every Thursday and leaving the same day, will have a duration of approximately eleven hours and with rates ranging from US $ 749, said  the Manager of Aeropuertos de Honduras, Edgardo Maradiaga.
